You and I were made to worship. If you've ever wondered why you were put on this earth; that's it in a nutshell. We were created to worship God. Worship comes in many forms such as prayer, dancing, singing, serving, and quietly listening to God’s Spirit.
Another form of worship that honors God is music. I truly believe God loves music. After all, praising God through music is found throughout the Bible.
Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! For He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory. Psalm 98:1
Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth; Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises. Sing to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and the sound of a psalm, with trumpets and the sound of a horn; Shout joyfully to the Lord, the King. Psalm 98: 4-6
I will sing of your mercy and justice; To You, O Lord, I will sing praises. Psalm 101:1
Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Psalm 100:1, 2
Worship through music is valued by the Lord; therefore, we should value it too.
At Christ Point Church we worship the Lord through a variety of styles. You will hear blues, country, rock, folk, and some traditional hymns. He is a creative God, and at Christ Point Church we celebrate the diversity of music that we have to express our praises.
As a worship leader, it is such a joy to see people worship without thought to those around them – only to the One to whom their praise is given. God inhabits the praises of His people, so when we lift our voices and our hearts to Him, He draws near to us. Really, worship has nothing to do with the style of music we play – it is about the heart of the worshipper.
Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. John 4:23
It is my prayer and deepest desire that as you attend Christ Point Church, you will be a participant in the musical worship, not just a spectator. I challenge you to lose your self-consciousness, be open to a variety of musical styles, and see how God can change your life as you lift your heart and voice in true worship of Him.
